For us, Santo Coyote is mainly a place for lunch. They have my favorite beer on tap - Dos Equis Amber. The lunch menu is varied and everything is good. The service is also always good. My favorite meal there is the Cancun Trio. Chocked with shrimp, grilled fish, and scallops along with two sides. When I'm with a group, we get the guacamole hand-made at the table, and everyone always enjoys it.

I need to start off by saying we ate here on Cinco de Mayo... I'd like to optimistically say that this place is probably amazing the other 364 days of the year and this was just a busy night. But C'mon!! You're a Mexican restaurant and it's Cinco de Mayo... Prepare!! We ordered their Cinco de Margarita special for $15. I was expecting something pretty huge and slightly fancy. It wasn't huge, was served in a plastic cup, and was watered down with no salt and no lime. Not impressed at all. Very little alcohol. My boyfriend then ordered a Mexican margarita. It was supposed to have a jalapeño stuffed Olive and have a salt rim....when we got it and brought it to the attention of the waitress that it doesn't look like the description, she said "Okay, well I guess I can go ask them to put an Olive in it and use a new glass with salt. Do you need me to go do that?" Umm...yeah?! It was $9 and seriously a little larger than most shot drinks. It really should at least be correct. And our dinner... Ehh. Just ehh. I ordered the "pick two" combo with a taco and a burrito, because by now I didn't expect much. And that's what I got...not much. They forgot one of my pick two items. And when brought to their attention, they fixed the issue. It definitely wasn't anything amazing. As a matter of fact, I had better Mexican food last week at Ruby Tuesday's. My boyfriend ordered three different types of tacos (can't remember what kind) but they were well presented and he said they were tasty. My boyfriend has been to the NLR location and said it was a much better experience. I guess if we decide to go back, we'll go to NLR.

I really have no idea why this place has a 2.5 star rating. We have been here so many times and have never had a bad experience. The food comes out in a timely manner according to order. The drinks are on point. The staff remembers our name. This place is great.

I loved this place until it became inconsistent. I called to speak to a manger about my santos dip not looking like normal and there was hardly no cheese sauce and he told me they rotate employees and it's already pre measured and he can't do anything about it. This is dumb either offer it the same every time and keep it like other locations or thanks that shit off the fucking menu .. Seriously pissed it's not even great taste

My first complaint was how cold it was in this restaurant. We had four in our party and the AC was blasting so hard we all needed coats. But let's get to the food. I had the chicken tamale and cheese enchiladas. The tamale was dry and bland. No flavor. I've never had worse, actually. My son and I both had the enchiladas and both of us took one bite and we were done. The cheese tasted like American. Who puts American in an enchilada? They were awful. The only thing that saved this place was the salsa. If we ever came back, and we won't, we would order drinks and chips and skip the menu.

I used to be a regular here for drinks and dinner. I regularly brought a party of 6 adult patrons, plus myself, at least once per week. The staff is exceptionally friendly, but unfortunately the bartenders are not consistent and the food is terrible now. It went from fantastic to a place we never want to go back to. According to my debit card spending graphs, I alone spent $3,734 in the past 13 months at Santo Coyote in West Little Rock. Several of my friends and family spent at least that much and more. I'm disappointed that the food quality, taste, temperature, and presentation has gone downhill so rapidly. The basic margarita has not tasted drinkable in about 2 months. I started drinking Milagro Respasado margaritas (not exactly inexpensive) and the bartenders over-pour the tequila because they don't know how to draw a proper bartender pour count. I know. I watched. I counted. It's costing that place a fortune in over pouring. I hope someone there at SC Little Rock takes this seriously, reviews the kitchen and bar, and takes steps to right these errors. Please return to the successful practices and procedures you had in-place back before May 2014. Until I hear different, my money will be spent elsewhere.

Different than the Mccain location. Even though it is closer for my family, we always go to the Mccain, north little rock location. Food is the same, but the service is lacking.

I eat here weekly. Great food. I can not explain the poor ratings. I really disagree.

It's just bad business to build your brand based on good food/pricing/service/etc., and then increase prices, while at the same time cutting portion sizes. I'm not sure if it's just the new location in WLR, or the NLR location as well. In fact, years ago my first job was at a restaurant that did a similar thing. It was uncomfortable for the employees, angered loyal customers, and eventually led to their demise. I understand that the cost of food may rise - so raise your prices by the same percentage. However, you can't also cut portions down to nothing and expect to have happy customers. I used to purchase tacos at $2.50 or so per taco. They came on the small, bite sized tortillas. However, they always gave you two tortillas per taco, and overstuffed the toppings. Now the price is $2.99 per taco, yet you get one (bite-sized, mind you) tortilla, with barely enough toppings to fill it! It's pretty ridiculous. Guacamole is also a rip-off. They used 1 avocado, some mix-ins such as onions, jalapenos, cilantro, etc. - and charge $8. That is a huge, undeserved mark up! The flavors are still great, and service is pretty good, but I'm not a fan of being ripped off. I don't think I'll be frequenting Santo Coyote often.

We waited for over an hour for food we could have made at home. Never coming back.

Substandard service on both of my visits, the food is ok. Certainly not worth the wait. Last visit i waited nearly 45 minutes to be seated and watched two parties that arrived after mine get seated. Listened to other patrons complaining about waiting nearly 30 minutes after being seated to be checked on.

My girlfriend and I tried this place out a few weeks ago, as it is close to where she lives. Overall, it is average at best. My girlfriend's salmon salad was nothing special, and my fajitas were woefully underwhelming and bland. As far as the good- their margaritas are better than most, and the atmosphere is nice and modern, but their food is average. The service was the most disappointing aspect of this place. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where I had to wait 20 minutes for a ticket after we were obviously finished. It was not busy, and the servers were congregated at the bar most of the time we were there. Overall, the atmosphere and drinks were the high points. Value and food quality were average, and service was lacking. If you are going for drinks and the patio experience, this place is fine. If you expect a high quality dining experience, you will likely be underwhelmed.

The interior of the restaurant is modern Mexican with a trendy feel. They have a good bar selection and menu; however, the food was too salty for my taste. I ordered Mexican lamb chops (yes, I know this is not typical Mexican) with tequila rice and black beans. I ordered the lamb chops medium and when I received my order, they were rare. I had to send them back twice to be recooked. I was not impressed at all with my meal. I might try this place again and stick to a more traditional Mexican dish. My favorite dish, fish tacos, was not on the menu, so this is problematic for me. I would recommend this place for a date if it is more about appearances then the food. Having just moved from Southern California to Little Rock, there is only one Mexican restaurant I have liked, Local Lime.

Went to the restaurant on 2/23/14. Was seated immediately, but didn't see a waiter for a while, and noticed that more than half of the tables in our section were still cluttered with glasses/plates/etc from prior customers. Finally ordered, and when the food came out, three of the four orders were missing details. For instance, asked for no onions on the tacos, and even confirmed it with the waiter at the time..but there were onions...two of us ordered salads with our meals, but neither of us received them, even when we informed the server that we were supposed to have salads and he told us that he would go get them. When the bill arrived, we were charged twice for one of the entrees, and were also charged for salads. Had to argue with the waiter about it and inform him that we never received the salads. The food itself...simply amazing. I had something called a Cancun seafood trio wrap...it was excellent! My daughter had the tacos al pastor, and aside from having to pick all of the onions out of them, they were very good. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that I will go back. If I do, I won't have guests with me - it's embarrassing to have to dicker with the waiter over the bill, and aggravating to not get things prepared the way you ask.

We had lunch at Santo Coyote a week after it opened, and the food, service, and atmosphere were all great. The prices were reasonable, the portions were abundant, and the decor is upscale compared top the typical Little Rock Tex-Mex places around the city. Most lunch menu items are around $6.95. This is a welcome change and is well worth a trip if you're on the West side. Just on the backside of Carino's. Go, see, eat!

The only thing that was actaully good was the salsa. Overall, the food is very bland and extremely disappointing. The refried beans had little flavor and I think they forgot to season them. The shredded chicken tasted boiled and was very bland. The presentation is pretty, but not the flavor. The service was also a little sub-par for such a nice looking restaurant and location. The lunch menu does not entirley escape from the "Speedy Gonzales" plate that Arkansas Mexican is known for, at least they changes the name to Speedy Coyote.

Don't understand the negative reviews. This place is great for lunch.. It's never that busy and the food is consistent. I really like the lunch fajitas and the chorizo omelet. The service is also very friendly

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
